Welcome to Hagere Berbere. We are a family owned and operated business based in Colorful Colorado. When my family moved to the US over 30 years ago, we dreamed of bringing Ethiopian cuisine and culture with us. Our delicious berbere is made with more than 15 spices; chili pepper, garlic, ginger, basil, cardamom, oregano, black seeds, ajwain seeds, and coriander seeds to name a few. Berbere is a versatile spice that you can sauté with vegetables or meat dishes or marinate with a stew. You can also make berbere paste by adding water and olive oil to the mixture. This distinctive dark red staple of Ethiopian cooking is available in both 8oz and 4 oz, whether you wish to try it out for the first time or you have been using it for years!
